MIRANDA STOPS SINGING TO PUT AN END TO SELFIES

Written by on July 18, 2023

We live in the age of digital awareness that seems to mandate that we record every moment of our life or at least the good outfit we are wearing. I’ve seen a lot of people miss out on the moment going on right there in front of them while they take pictures of themselves or even what they are watching. Miranda Lambert was performing at her residency in Las Vegas and stopped mid show because some audience members were distracting her with their constant selfie taking during a quiet and somewhat reflective part of her show. I get that you want pictures of things you are at to share your memories with others. That’s something that has been going on since the birth of the camera. I get that you are happy with the way you look and want to show off a bit. However, you are missing the actual memory of what you are at and what is going on. Along with that, if you are ruining other people’s experience or what’s even worse, interfering with the actual performer you are not “liked” by anyone in that room and won’t get pity from most people because you are wrong. You getting scolded for taking selfies and causing the artist to be distracted thus causing everyone to have a poor experience does not constitute a pity party for you. Everyone paid good money for that show no matter what tier or price they paid and no matter what you paid doesn’t give you carte blanche. This is no different than heckling a performer, throwing stuff at them, or talking loudly while they perform. So, I 100% support Miranda in this moment because the audience members were distracting her and causing the majority of the audience to have a diminished experience. Now they’ve got a picture of a memorable moment even though it may have been their most embarrassing one.
