CARRIE UNDERWOOD HAS A CAMEO IN POPULAR STREAMING SHOW

There is something satisfying when there is a cameo in a show or a movie. Sometimes it is done to connect us to older versions of the show/movie like having Charlton Heston playing an ape in the remake of Planet Of The Apes in the early 2000s. There are times it is done for comedic reasons within the show’s narrative like when David Hasselhoff shows up in, well almost everything (see: Sponge Bob Squarepants Movie, Dodgeball, Guardians Of The Galaxy: Vol. 2). The best cameos are a bit of a wink to the viewer where they have an “ah ha!” moment and get a laugh out of it or maybe a tear rolls down their face. They aren’t always received well. In the show Game Of Thrones there is an episode that singer Ed Sheeran appears as a soldier that sings well. Some felt this was just a forced cameo even though they hired someone that can actually sing which seems to make sense. The most unexpected and surprising cameo came this last weekend on the hit Netflix show Cobra Kai which is a continuation of the 80s Karate Kid franchise. This show is full of cameos as it taps into the nostalgia that kids of that generation love. Needless to say I was blown away when a sudden performance in the final episode had a familiar country singer pop up out of nowhere – Carrie Underwood! Normally I wouldn’t say anything, but Netflix and Carrie spoiled her appearance on the Twitter machine the other day with a few off-set pictures. This was one of those cameos that was done for comedic effect as much as showing how popular the show has become.
