The weekend is a little longer this week! I hope y’all have a great Thanksgiving and enjoy all the turkey and trimmings that go with it as well as tasty leftovers! This weekend is full of sports too with NFL football being the major sport of choice on Thanksgiving day, but they even have a game on Friday. With the Packers playing the Lions on Thanksgiving day and the Vikings play da Bears on Monday night that gives you time to check out some other football games at the local level and get out and have some fun too.

If you want to get your internal furnace burning before you eat all that food make sure you get to the Festival Foods Turkey Trot Thanksgiving morning! You can get out and run and it looks like you also have the chance to win an ATV. That will make your holidays a little brighter.

High School football wraps up this weekend for the area as the Minnesota High School Prep Bowl is held Friday and Saturday. This is the Championship games for every level of football in the state. Some local teams to follow are Kingsland in the 9 Man game Saturday at 10AM and Stewartville in the 3A game at 1PM. You can make the drive to US Bank to see them in person or catch them on TV on the Minnesota side of the river.

Hit the road and do small shopping on Small Business Saturday! Support those local “mom and pop” stores that are your neighbors and friends in the community. The Country Roads Small Business Mixer is a great way to shop and eat your way around southeast Minnesota. There’s a chance to win a prize at the end of the day as well if you make the rounds. stay out of the traffic in the city by hitting those country roads.
