NEW ARTIST ISN’T EVERYTHING YOU MIGHT THINK SHE IS

Written by on November 30, 2023

As the human race continues to try its best to improve everything from transportation to the arts we have seen many advancements in several decades. The last 100 years or so we have taken several leaps it seems in a short amount of time. As computers became part of everyday life it feels like things have progressed even faster with better graphics not only on our PCs but in movies, TV shows, and in music. Lately, the most talked about tech has surrounded Artificial Intelligence usually identified as AI. This is something that has moved beyond science fiction and become reality. Movies like Terminator, Star Wars, Star Trek. Matrix, Wall-E, and a myriad of others show AI in both good and bad light. The major fear is that AI would become a self aware entity and take over the world and possibly kill humans or enslave them. Skynet was the bad AI in the Terminator movies and it is the most referenced example in the argument against more advanced AI products. How close to that being a reality are we? From the looks of current AI releases, pretty close. After just writing songs or scripts or even term papers, and making pictures from information provided we now have an AI generated singer. Anna Indiana (nice initials) is completely computer generated. Aside from some noticeable facial distortions and a dead eyed stare she looks almost real. She, her surroundings, the lyrics, and music are all AI generated. When she sings you notice words that don’t fit and some choppiness to the lyrics, but it is pretty close. To the untrained eye and those not in the know they may be fooled by her. The scary thing, apart from songs being written by computers and not artists is that AI is smart enough to make an image that people can’t tell is real and it being used to manipulate them. While it could have helpful applications there are many questions about it being abused. What do you think of her singing?
