DISNEY GOES FOR THE ULTIMATE MASHUP OF LIVE ACTION, ANIMATION, AND CGI FOR NEW MOVIE

Written by on April 27, 2022

In the late 80s and early 90s Disney ruled the after school airwaves with their slate of cartoons. There was shows with cartoon ducks, bears, and chipmunks. The last one called “Chip ‘n Dale’s Rescue Rangers” took the famous chipmunks and made them private investigators with a few friends that helped them on their adventures and solve the mystery at hand. Over the years I have seen a group of people on the Internet pining for the nostalgia of their favorite Disney programs that they grew up on. The “CnD” fans finally got their wish…. sort of. Instead of doing a reboot of the show Disney has instead decided to make it a movie about the characters as if they were actors that had their show canceled and are getting back together to solve a real mystery. You would think they would do a traditional animation movie since it’s going straight to Disney+, but the twist is that the movie exists in the real world and some of the characters are classic animation, some are claymation, and some are CGI. It takes the Roger Rabbit style to a different and somewhat visually interesting angle. They released the trailer today and people are pleasantly surprised. Having John Mulaney and Andy Samberg as the voices of the main characters takes it to another odd yet satisfying place.
