HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL GAME GOES (MANY) EXTRA INNINGS IN SECTION TOURNAMENT

Written by on June 1, 2023

The beautiful thing about softball and baseball is that there is no time limit to the overall game. A game could, in theory go on forever if no one manages to outscore the other team in the innings provided or added. We’ve all seen games that take a long time to conclude but they don’t always have much riding on the outcome. In Minnesota the girls softball section tournaments are in full swing to see which teams will go to the state championship. Becker and St Francis in class 3A had an epic game yesterday going extra innings with a tie score. 17 innings to be exact and the score was 0-0. While not the longest in State history with two games going 19 innings in 2014 and 1987 it was still a battle for the ages with everything at stake. Becker finally came out the winning side with a base hit. It may have been long, but I can imagine it was thrilling the entire time.
