YOU COULD LIVE IN A SCHOOL IN NORTH DAKOTA

You ever look at an old building and think, “Man, that should be renovated into a house.” We see old churches turned into shops and homes and old buildings that used to be stores or small production businesses repurposed in multiple ways. My daughter lived in an apartment that used to be a former bakery in the early 1900s. Schools in small towns are great targets for being remodeled. They get closed due to low populations or a new school is built and they’re not sure what to do with the old building. They are usually so well built that it is a shame to tear them down. Most get turned into apartments due to their open spaces and sometimes plumbing being easily accessible. The gyms are kept in some cases so that more activities can be placed there or daycare or community centers can be added. How would you feel if the entire school was turned into a home? That’s a ton of space to live in unless you’re super famous and rich. I don’t think I could design enough of the spaces to make them usable on a regular basis. A man in North Dakota thought different and decided to fix up the old closed down school and live in it with his wife. He did a lot of work to what looks like a front common area of the school and made a nice home. Unfortunately it doesn’t look like he got to finish the work and there is still a good amount of old “school stuff” around the building. The saddest part is that the gym roof collapsed at some point and that looks like a loss or a major refurbishment. Sound interesting? Well, if you want you can buy the place yourself for a decent price and fix it up how you see fit. It’s only $150,000 which is a steal for the square footage. Would you want to live here or would you fix it up and flip it? You can click the picture to see all the amenities that come with it.
