GRADUATION MC CAN’T SEEM TO PRONOUNCE SIMPLE NAMES

Have you ever heard someone yell out, “YOU DONE MESSED UP A-ARON!”? This is in reference to a memorable comedy sketch from Key and Peele and their show from Comedy Central. It has become part of pop culture reference when someone makes a mistake. As an DJ, football play-by-play, and an announcer at other events I have had to pronounce names that haven’t been very easy. For the most part they are few and far between. A video has been circulating of commencement at Thomas Jefferson University where the MC is butchering EVERY name no matter how common or simple they are. Names like Elizabeth, Thomas, and Virginia are unrecognizable when read and the graduates are thoroughly confused. How this got so bad is yet to be known.
