MINNESOTA SMALL BUSINESS GETS BOOST FROM STEPHEN COLBERT

Written by on November 30, 2021

#ColbertSmallBizBump … it’s a hashtag you should get to know and maybe even use. What is it? During the pandemic The Late Show with Stephen Colbert has been using it and social media to help out small businesses around the country. They feature a business in their segment and have even made “commercials” for the businesses. The really cool thing is that it has been working! A bakery in Cedar Rapids Iowa got a huge boost over a weekend after Colbert featured their business. There are several other success stories that you can see in the opening monologue from last night that will put a smile on your face. Last night they featured a young man from New Hope, Minnesota, a suburb a little northeast of Minneapolis who got into business for himself by selling gourmet popcorn from the trunk of his car and now has his own store. He had lost his job and decided it was the opportunity he needed to get his own business going. You have to get to the 7 minute mark to if you want to skip ahead, but I suggest watching the whole thing to see all the good that’s been done. After watching this, it might be a great weekend to make a trip to New Hope, MN and get some popcorn for those holiday parties!
