Everyday a high percentage of people carry around a video camera on their personage. They film themselves and others so often that it would be no surprise that someone caught on film now could be someone famous in the future. In fact, many people are becoming “famous” – or infamous by their constant video sharing. But if you time traveled to the early 1970s you would only see regular people on home movies and TV personalities ruled the airwaves. To catch a famous person as a child before any of us knew them is even more rare. WCCO TV in Minneapolis was lucky enough to find such footage. The Minneapolis School District teachers’ union was recently on strike, and the news station was looking at archival footage from the last strike back in 1970 for context. They stumbled on some amazing footage of one of Minnesota’s greatest musical stars: Prince Rodgers Nelson. Better known as just Prince. The man who changed music in the 1980s and put Minneapolis on the musical scene is seen as a child being interviewed about the teachers strike. For fans and musical enthusiasts alike this footage is being hailed as a major find and is making the rounds on the internet and being shared. You don’t need to be a fan of Prince to understand how great of a find this is and such a rare occurrence for a star that was in the limelight yet.
